Does Chev Have the Same Service Information Zone to Zone?
I had my '97 in for the spring oil change this morning and reported the "rocking chair" was at it again. I gave them the new TSB number, #02-08-50-002, the document ID#, 868514, and even a copy of the text from C-5 TECH.
They, of course, won't accept any of this at face value. They said the numbers were both bad and said they called the zone service rep and he said something should be coming "real soon now".
So they told me that I should "check back periodically to see if there's anything new".
Are they:
-Putting me off hoping I'll go away (Been there-They don't seem to like GMPP claims)
-or-
-Looking at service information that is different zone-to-zone. (So why is Cincinnati, a couple hundred miles from Detroit, AFTER Montana? (No offense intended, Ken))

Some dealers are still in the stone age  Most dealers are connected to SI2000 which is connected to the GM data base.SI2000 is the GM website where service manuals, bulletins, recalls, and all other service related info is stored. The dealers on SI2000 have updated info (such as TSB's) at there fingertips as soon as it is released :yesnod: The dealer that you are dealing with is probably waiting for the print version of the bulletin to be sent to them (then filed in a binder to be lost),and they are not on SI2000.The print version can arrive 1 month later at the dealership after a bulletin is released, which would explain why they have no clue.In other words, you may see stuff posted on this forum before certain dealers are even aware of the info ;)
In your case, the dealer should have simply taken the part # from the bulletin you showed them to their parts dept, where the parts guy could verify that the number is a "good" number, and simply order it :yesnod:
I have allready installed a few of the updated seat adjusters listed in the TSB

As " C-5 TECH " states the dealer must be tied in to the GM system. Some dealers here in NJ are some are not. This is both good and bad in that if you get shafted by one dealer the other may not know about it if the first is not tied in. An example would be the dealer denying warranty because you "raced" your car.
