Daytime running light(s) keep Blowing (broken bulbs)
Vehicle: This is on a 2001 Chevy Corvette with 70,000 gentle miles.
Problem Description: One or the other of the front daytime running lights (turn signals) keep burning out. Never both bulbs at the same time. The recepticle (connection plugs) looks burned, and the bulb glass keeps breaking, not just the filament wire.
Its happened 6 times this month, not always on the same side, and due to an very small bumper scrapper last year the Light Housing on the right side caused me to replace both Housings.
Everytime the offending bulb is replaced, it works for that first drive, no matter how far I go (over 200 miles!). The very next time I start the car they blow out, or are already blown. Should I replace the Wiring Harness (Yikes), use another type of bulb, or go with a set of LEDs (from JWMotoring).
Caveats: The replacement bulbs are Standard yellow GM turn signal bulbs ($3.00 a set). Both Light Housings are aftermarket Clear Lens bought off ebay, but they seem ok.
My guess, this is a recurring problem with C5's and I should just go with the LEDs, and maybe change the wiring harness.
Do you have the correct fuses for the DRL's, not sure what number they are but they could be wrong also.
