Default CAGS resistor wattage

I'm planning on doing the CAGS bypass via a resistor. I've seen instuctions that say to use a 2.2K ohm 1/2 watt resistor. Does it need to be 1/2 watt? Will a 1/4 watt work? How much voltage is applied to that circuit?

Yes, I think a 1/4 would be fine.. BUT, the 1/2 has leads that are the right diameter to stuff into the connector just right! :) Cost is maybe a penny more.. BTW, mine has been on my car for 2 1/2 years now and still works great!.. OH, I did pull it out an re-plug the CAGS when I took it in for the seal replacement, didn't want any hassles with the warrantee.

Service manual says battery voltage is applied to CAGS solenoid. So assume worst case 15 volts then V^2/R = 0.10 watts. 1/4 watt should be fine. Besides, the CAGS circuit only activates briefly and infrequently.
