Default Rear running lights are out :(

Maybe someone can help me with this. I have a '99 C5 with 120k. The rear running lights that come on with the headlights are out. Also the console lights are out. The brake lights do work. I'm thinking it may be the headlight multiswitch. This part is $250.00 Has anyone run into this problem that could help me out Thanks

Do your front corner parking lights work? If so you may want to check the fuses before anything else. Not quite sure if the back corner lights work off the same circuit as the console lights but hey it's worth a shot to troubleshoot the simple stuff first. Good Luck bro.

When my reverse light switch in the tranny failed, it took out the fuse for the auto dimming mirror and some other things. Check all the fuses under the hood and in the passenger footwell before buying anything.

It could be the multi-switch...

Obviously check the fuses first

I had a similar problem, didn't want to spent the cash to replace it so I found a thread here on cleaning the contacts.

If you can follow directions it 's not he hard.

It worked great for a couple of years...then needed another "tune".

At that point I shopped around and bought a new one for for $143 from partsladi @ Ebay. It was a genuine GM part.

Good Luck

You could try fuse #6 in Passenger footwell. If that is okay it's probably the multi-function switch, ground or bad connector.

The ground is on the rear drivers side rear wheel well.

The connector for the rear lights is in the passenger rear wheel well.

Try shaking the harness and see if the work, if so you have either a bad connection or bad wire in the harness.

Had the exact same issues and that was the problem. Look around a bit, some forum vendors will be cheaper for the part.
