Default Multi-Function turn signal switch and horn switch

My Horn was not been working and the head lights were not coming up. So with some help from the forum, I am working on the multi-function switch and the horn switch.[IMG][/IMG]

I got the switch and harness out and want to open it up but, I am having trouble determining the size of the torx bit. There are four very small gold screws to take the switch apart. Does anyone know the size of these screws and that it is a normal torx bit ?

[IMG][/IMG]

While I had the column apart I took out the horn switch. Stupid thing has not worked in two months and as I taking it apart the horn goes off. I think it has something to do with the red lead and its plastic connector. I'm not sure what new one looks like. Mine has a one tip sticking out of the side of it that goes into the female portion of this spring loaded connection. The horn was working well except for the top center of the pad. Does anyone have pics of this connector ? I should probably order a switch from Gene.

Help with the torx bit size and pics of the red lead connector on the horn switch would be appreciated.

Thanks

Your horn may not be working for several reasons.

Bad Membrane
Bad Connection in steering column
Bad Horns.

What test have you tried to figure out why the horns don't work ?

Personally, I would just replace the stalk with a new or good used one. Once the connectors start to get dirty or burnt, they don't seem to hold up as well and you end replacing the stalk anyway.

It's definitely a torx bit. It was smaller than any I had too.

Bring the whole freaking switch into ACE. that's what I ended up doing, I with I could remember the size but I'm writing this from work and the bit is in my tool box @ home.

The horn itself is good. 1 down.
I question the steering column. I am not sure what the second pin is for on the picture. That portion of the white connector was out.
Membrane was pretty good, expect top center. I am going to replace the membrane. I need to know how to correctly install that red lead and what the second pin locks into.

ITs a number 8 torx. I took the whole thing to Sears Hardware. Could only get bit. I need a #8 torx screw driver.

Thanks for all the help guys.

Did you replace or repair the multi-function switch ?

I had mine apart for a seperate reason last night and was using a #9 to open it but I was using the bit type...not that it should make a difference. My issue turned out to be something more serious...no low beams at all. It turned out to be the tan wire on the switch connector's pin/socket...melted. Means a bad connection or crimp on the pin/socket.

Thanks for all the help guys.
The red lead locks into a contact plate in the steering column. Mine had melted for some reason and I had to take the steering column apart to replace that part.

Send me your email and I'll send you a picture.
