I have a 1999 Coupe with the dual climate control.
The external temperature displayed is about 20 degrees lower than the actual outside temperature.
I have already replaced the ambient temperature sensor and I have checked the connector for corrosion and voltage (5.1 volts).
Is there anything else I can check or do I need a new control head?
There is a company that sells a DIY repair of the climate control unit---
Typically on the 97-99's the solder connections are bad and re-soldering is needed-- and the instrction kit they sell tells EXACTLY which ones to do---It is a very touchy and delicate job---I did mine myself--and didn't even use new solder--all i did was to heat the connections with a soldering iron and they re-melted the connections and now everything works---OR you can have an electrical shop do the soldering for you---i can't remenber the name of the company---but i think i got it on E-B__Y--or just do a Google search---

I have a funny feeling you have a ton of company on this one. The fix is listed as a sticky, at the top "the ultimate DIY"

Are you sure you replaced the correct sensor? The one out under the hood near the right headlight is the one you want. I had this same issue and fixed it with changing out this sensor - cost was about $11.
I'm willing to try a fix like the one tblu92 suggested if anyone has instructions.
I found the link---They also have rebulit ones there from about $250 to $150--so those are pricey---don't know if the repairs instruction kit will fix yours--but read about it on the link
That ebay listing is for the dimly lit display which can be easily fixed with a simple solder job...the temp reading an incorrect temp is a separate issue.
Sorry i can't be of more help. There should be a way you can check for the correct voltage/resistance down in the actual connector for the sensor.
Also, try disconnecting the sensor. then turn the car on and see if your display defaults to 69 degrees as it should.
I disconnected the sensor and the temperature stayed the same (53 degrees).
Pull the fuse for a little while to see if I could reset something.
After I put the fuse back in the temperature read 74 degrees to start with but slowly went back to 53.
This morning I was dirving it and the temperature reading is only a couple degrees off (65 degrees).
You probably know that it doesn't update immediately when you make a change. You have to drive the car a few minutes over a certain speed to update. Just a thought. Maybe it's reading C instead of F
