I should be recieving my new Vararam Friday. I will be installing it this weekend. I was curious how long it took some of you, and if you had any tips on the install. Thanks David
C5Cemo, Thanks for the reply. As expected the Vararam was delivered Friday evening and I'm looking forward to the install, most likely Sunday. Unlike alot of folks here I don't go dyno every time I put a part on and I don't expect alot out of this alone. But if there is still a bottleneck somewhere after I'm through doing my H/C and everything else(see sig), I'll know it's not in the intake!!! Vararam VR-B1 arrived complete with red coupler and with full instructions. Very interesting thinline K&N filter, about 16" long and fits in a curved position. Came with lots of clamps and fasteners, this should be fun!! :smash:
C5Cemo, seems to me that for the money the Vararam should have come with built in screens. Wouldn't want to get a bird sucked up in there (or a Mustang). Are you using screens? I may hold off til I decide. Also, it looks like the only way to clean the filter is to take everything completely apart, but I really don't see a way it could of been designed to make that easier. It looks like undoing 4 bolts and and the clamp at the MAF. It's still a cool design, COOOLD air!
Nope, I'm not using any screens. They'll rob HP, no doubt...kinda like the screen in the stock '97-01 MAF sensors. It would suck to pull a Mustang into one of the scoops, though :yesnod:
Cleaning the filter involves unbolting the airbridge and the two airbox bolts at the least. I like taking the whole airbridge and MAS section apart piece by piece to make the job less cumbersome. I've got my nitrous line to deal with as well.
I'm pretty sure it will. I don't have any experience with an SLP MAS but as long as it's outside diameter is the same as either of the stock units it'll go together fine.
