Default HELP! Oil pressure needle "bouncing" after sender replacement!!!

I just replaced my oil pressure sender in my 2000 with a direct replacement from NAPA autoparts. Upon completion, the oil pressure bounces from 50-70 with the engine OFF and 60-81 with the engine idling. WTF!!! This thing is driving me crazy. No codes, No other symptoms, new oil (5w-30) and new oil filter. HELP! Bad sender!!??!?!!?/

Brass.
I put teflon tape on the threads. Does the housing need to contact the block?
