Can't get gatorbacks anymore???
I've called everywhere in town..
Autozone..nope
Napa...nada
OReillys...nothing
Midas...same
There are no more Kragens out here because Oreilly just bought out kragen/chucks/checkers
What is the next best belt to use in your guys' opinion?
Thanks,
Donnie
P.S. The counter guy @ Napa actually told me over the phone that they had complaints with the goodyears so they dropped them and switched to gates..

I was surprised also recently since I always get gatorbacks! There are very few places, relatively speaking, in my areaa that now carry them.

It's because they can get a cheaper belt from China.

My first choice has usually been Gatorbacks, but as many have said, they're getting hard to find, other than mail order. Since I retired a couple of years ago, I started working part-time at the local Advance Auto Parts store, and we handle Gates belts.
Since my C-5 is now 9 years old, I felt new belts were a good idea, and rather than make a huge deal over it, I simply got the Gates belts while at work. So far, they turn the various pulleys properly, and don't squeak....what more can I say?

I couldn't find anything but Gates and "Our Brand" in any of my local shops either. Did manage to find my Gatorback on Amazon.com though.

Changed the belt on my 04 last month and the stock belt was a DAYCO not a GOODYEAR. Brought the car new so that belt came from the factory. Got a DURALAST from autozone and it was made in Canada.

I have a brand new pair of GATORBACK belts I bought when I got my Z16. I've never used them.
I'll sell them for $500...

Our local goodyear store doesn't want to even deal with it..they do more commercial/industrial stuff.
I might have been able to beg them to order me one but they just do tractor, loader/skidder tires and such..

i would order from summit racing if you want goodyear
locally gates would be my choice, gates is goodyears biggest competitor in belts and hoses

Summit racing, ebay, amazon.. and a multitude of other sites. For some reason they only are ever available online. But certainly readily available.
