Received my Corvette Quarterly magazine and they have an article about power shifting the M6 in the C5 which can get you .2 seconds improvement in the quarter mile...
What I thought was really interesting is that GM tests the C5 to make sure its tough enough to handle 600 trips from a stop to 6th gear under full throttle while power shifting in every gear.
Nice to know the C5 was designed to take a beating...

Yeah, I did 12,68 or so on my MN6 on runflats on my first drag race run (on a non prepped track!!) with powershifting and a lot of wheelspin in 1st.
Car was stock, beside corsa Indy´s.
It also sounds damn cool.
I have a Video of that if anyone wants to see (it´s three years old :) ).
I was a rookie at that time. Didn´t warm up my tires. Had full tire pressure.
Non prepped track.
Couldn´t get traction in first, so shifted in second and then powershifted it into 3rd and 4th.
Now is the 2-3shift a fast shift, or what?
Love to do that! :D
Very interesting info. I'm gonna go pick up a copy today. It'll be nice to have it around the next time I snap something. LOL
I gotta admit that I thought I would never break the tranny after the first 6 months of beating the hell out of it. Really impressive what they put together but once I got past the 2 year/20k mile mark it's been one thing after another. Only makes since :D
The average C5 clutch slips so bad at full throttle shifts that it would be hard to break any driveline parts. This is by design I'm told. I say it's a cheap GM nickle and dime clutch assembly. :mad
I'm a pretty good powershifter, and a very consistent drag racer. One night I made 5 runs without powershifting and one run powershifting (last run of the night). Interestingly, my last two runs I had identical 60's times (2.066). The run not powershifting was 12.88, the one powershifting was 12.77.
