This is sort of a spin off of the thread: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=271670
But It would be great if someone from say MTI or another respected shop post a how to: "Change Cam" I wouldn't expect this to be a "for dummies" document, but one that someone with proper tools and experience could understand. Personally I don't know exactly how much of the car I'll need to pull apart. Without such a doc I would probably do a lot more work than needed.
There's a great one on http://ls1.fbody.com and click on the cam install. The only difference is that we have to remove the steering rack. Other than that it's all the same. Same motor, etc. Plus, jMx has tools listed and parts. There are a few other LS1 cam install's online that are very good too.
Here's the one the VetteDoctors did:http://www.corvettemagazine.com/2001/February/cam/campg1.asp
66ImpalaLT1 is doing this install right now and I plan on doing mine in a few weeks as well. I will give a list of tools, part #'s and pictures of it all :). Also, if you get the service manuals it helps clarify a lot of it. It's really straightforward just time consuming.
There is no need to adjust the vavles. These motors work on hydrualic lifters and therefore you don't need to adjust for vavle lash, etc. It's all plug and play my friend.
