I just bought a 2002 Z06 from an elderly gentleman who bought the car new. It has 8700 miles on it. It is in excellent condition, but as I drove it, to load it on the trailer, I noticed the right front wheel has a noise, and kind of feels like a bent wheel....a wobbling in the steering wheel, when you turn to the right. I put it on a lift and found no evidence of a brake problem, or a bent wheel. While I have experience working on these cars as far as cam, heads, headers, etc., front suspension is not an area I'm familiar with. Any suggestions other than what I've checked ? Thanks.
You didn't mention if the front wheels were stock 17"x 9 1/2" , Z Speedlines wheels?
If they are. They are known, front & rear to bend out of shape, from hitting a pot hole, etc, quite easily.
I suggest pulling both fronts off & take them to a front end shop or tire/wheel shop. Have them set them up on their balancer machine & see if they are out of round/bent.
Might also want to make sure that the wheels are properly fitting on the hub surface & torqued to 100 lb ft.
Did the previous owner mention that there had been an accident to the front? Did you ask?

Probably just a bent rim.
Good luck.
Good luck
The previous owner was surprised when I mentioned it to him.No accidents, but the bent rim theory is most likely the case...I hope. They are the standard painted rims, but I didn't know they were prone to bending easily. That is exactly what it feels like. I'll pull them off and take them to a local tire shop. Thanks for the info. I haven't had a C5 in a few years, but this site has always been great for helping me with any mechanical problem.
As you probably all ready know, when you wash the wheels or the rotors are satuated from rain & you park the car for an extended time the pads sometimes stick/bond to the rusted rotors and may make a noise every revolution untill the rust is "braked off".
However that condition wouldn't create a wobble.
Let us know what you find out.
Recently I had a 18x10 1/2" Z wheel that I was going to sell & had it put on a balancer before the sale. It was bent , so there went the
sale.
If your rim is bent, you can still come accross new front speedlines but the rears are very hard to come by, new or used.
House of wheels 17x 9 1/2" about $200 or $225 ea.
Thanks for the input....I won't get a chance to pull the wheels off until tomorrow, I will post an update as soon as I find out. I'm anxious to see what's up.
