Default headlight question

Can i put HIDs in place of the foglights to replace the flip up headlights. Are they too low to project good visual lighting? If anyones knows of a company that does this plz let me know.

PS-i dont like the the headlights that go in place of the flip ups.

thanks

I have not replaced the fog lights with HID bulbs yet, but have replaced the headlight assemblies with the ACA style untis with good result. These use projector HID lights in place of the low beams.

I cannot agree more, the stock headlights leave a lot to be desired. Try doing a search on HID. This topic has been discussed many times on the forum. Forum member Patches has posted an excellent step by step guide with pictures on the headlight replacement and several vendors offer HID replacement units (with support after the sale) for the fogs as well as the headlights.

I have HID's in both the lows and the fogs. Even with HID's in the fogs it does not light up the road ahead enough for you to use them in place of your headlights. The fogs housings do not project the light forward, they are just basically a tube with a lens on the end, the headlights reflect most if not all of the light forward giving you light on the road. The fogs alone are a nice accent during dusk but once it's dark you need the headlights. I have to say that with HID's on the lows and the fogs on at the same time give a dramatic improvement over the stock halogens. Do them both and you won't be sorry. Good luck bro!

I have HID's in my fog lights with the standard head lights , even after raising the fogs a little they still don't project far enough down the road to be used as headlights past dusk. I should have installed HID's for the low's when I did the fog lights but at the time I had other headlight problems to solve (multi-position switch). This coming spring I will be installing HID's in my low beams.

I put HID ballast and bulbs into my foglight housing and do use them within the city instead of my headlights. i have done so for the past 3 seasons.
They get me by, in the city but are not bright enough for country roads.

The bigger question is are they street legal.. in your jurisdiction.
