Auto trans swap

I'm planning a transmission swap on my A4. I'm thinking of putting a 2004 A4 in my 1997 A4. They're both C5 auto , but will I need to change any thing else because of the different years? I'm guessing it'll be a straight swap but thought I get some other opinions. THANX

Should be a straight swap.
Why not put a little higher stall in while you're at it for a real performance kick in the pants.

I have a 3.15 diff I'm going to put in with it. I know most everyone says to go a 3.42 but I got a hell of a deal on a low milage 3 rib 3.15. $225

Anyway I'm a budget modder and this trans is low milage and would make a nice replacement to my 180,000 mile trans thats is getting tired!

You should still throw a stall in there if it's comfortably in your budget..it's a pita to pull all of that again if you already have it out and are already re-gearing the rear.
