Default Knock Sensor Code on '98 C5 - please advise.

I have read quite a few posts about knock sensors (where located, how to replace, etc) but would like some insight specific to my situation. Car runs strong with no knock audible. Will the CEL come on if there is excessive spark knock, or does the CEL code indicate failed communication with the sensor (I'd love to just replace the sensors and have the code go away).

Thanks in advance for your input!

Tom

Great, thanks for the info- next question is: is there a way to tell if I need the knock sensors with a locating tab, or the ones without. Also wouldn't mind a suggested source for the harness if you know of one!

Thanks again

I replaced mine 2 years ago. Got them straight from GM, which is where I suggest you obtain the parts from. I do not know about a locating tab, but I'm sure there is only one part number applicable anyway. Give your local dealer a call, or contact Gene at GMPartshouse.com. In any case, troubleshoot first.
