Default headlights

2001 coupe, passenger headlight wont close all the way when off, stays up about 1/4 inch. but nothing is blocking it cause when i turn it on it goes down first then back up.

no problem going up and down. just stopping in wrong spot. did an adjustment get out of wack somehow?

Wind the motor to its closed position manually - as long as you don't feel any major resistance. If it will wind down manually without problem, then it is the motor itself that is defective. Have a good look around at the linkage to make sure there is nothing broken or binding first.

if it is the motor, is it just the gear or whole new motor.

why would it still go up and down fine if the motor is bad?

The motor may have broken gears bad teeth, bad commutator, brushes etc. - Winding down the motor by hand is covered in your owners manual. Pull off the rubber cover and the round **** can be turned. Turn it slowly with your other hand on top of the headlight to feel if you are going the right way and don't forget to get your little flashlight and look underneath it to make sure nothing is broken, bent, rusted etc.

Maybe bad gears or plastic stops. Do as suggested and on the back side of the light you will see a black ****, it spins when you open or close the lights. Turn this by hand to make the panel go all the way down. If it does not open and close right after that you have some worn gears or stops. The plastic stops get flat spots worn on them and sometimes you can get away with just turning 180. do not think your motor is bad.... good luck
