Help - car stalling after start - column lock problem?
Hey fellas. Got an issue. Recently, every once and awhile after I start the car, whenever I try to put it in 1st or reverse to move, and let out the clutch, the car instantly dies. It idles fine - but as soon as I try and let off the clutch in gear it dies immediately. Its almost as if the fuel is being cut straight off.
I can let it sit for a few minutes and the problem seems to go away.
Anyone have any ideas what the problem might be? Someone elsewhere said it sounds like an intermentient column lock problem - but I thought those dealt with an actual physical lock-up of the column?
One other thing to note is on the way to work the other day just before I turned into the parking garage the car went into low power mode and was giving me serious error warnings. Never happened again. Not sure if it is related to the other problem.
OK, I'm back with codes. It's getting worse - about half the time I start it now it will cut out on me as soon as I try and go anywhere, and I'll have to remove the key are restart a few times before the problem goes away.
I'm a little concerned by the 1301 code as well...states the serial data line is shorted to the battery but its not a SCM issue rather with the TCS. This would cause a lot of the data line comm problems. What I don't know is where to suggest that you start to find it. Also, the LDCM low battery code...might want to check the status of your battery.
