Default keyless entry problems

why doesn't my key fob not hold it's program? It looses it's program every week or two. I must also press very hard on the buttons to operate it.

To get accurate, complete answers to your questions you need to include the year of your car. At least fill out your profile so we can look it up. I'm betting you have a 2000 because so many 2000's have posted the same question. If it is a 97 through 2000, you probably have a loose solder connection on the board inside. If you have already changed the battery, you can either try to resolder the legs on the IC chip or purchase a new remote. If it is a 2001 and up, you can buy remotes cheap on ebay. Make sure you get the correct one of the two types, new or old. If you do a search on this forum, you'll find lots of information on repairing or replacing yours.

I totally agree. It appears the earlier fobs have a lifetime, due to either bad internal connections or failing electronic components.
