Hello, I have a 2000 corvette convertible with a manual transmission. It is all factory accept for the corsa extreme exhaust system I put on it. I did not get the x pipe. Should I get an x pipe for it? If so, why, what does it do?
Also, I would like to do an air in take system. I have no idea what system to get. I am not looking to make a race car, just trying to give it a little more zip with minor work. Does anyone have suggestions as to what system?
Finally, do you feel I should put headers on it? If so, what is the benefit, and which do you recommend?
I'm looking for easy bolt on items for I am not a mechanic but enjoy learning as doing. The exhaust system was first mechanical thing I've done, so that is the extent of my skills. By the way, I love my corsa pipes. I just wish it were a little louder!
So if you have suggestions for the above questions please let me know. So far this site with your suggestions has made things easy for me with making smart decisions for my vette.
This site is a great place for all things Corvette. Use the search function and just start reading threads. There are many things that you can do and all of that info is on this forum. Good luck.
Once you add headers, it will be plenty loud. I added headers, high flow cats, exhaust, mufflers, a Z06 intake and a tune. The car maintained all of its driveability but picked up some power. I used to drag race it a lot and went from low 13's to mid to low 12's with that setup.
