Default Shift Boot Retaining Ring

Anyone know where one of these can be purchased? I believe the GM part # is 10271371. Thanks

It's only available through GM if you purchase the oem vinyl boot with it. You might get lucky finding one used, either in the forum classified section or through a vendor who deals in used parts. In the time I've been here, there hasn't been but a couple of them being sold. I recall one went for almost $20 a couple of years ago. And chances are a used one will also have damage.

If someone would tool up and manufacture those boot retainer rings and the plastic bushing on the end of the shifter lever, they could sell them for $10.95ea and make a big profit. I'd buy extras just to have "in case."

I brought this up last year and a few people said they could get some quotes on tooling and such, but no one ended up having a good one they were willing to send off to get it set up. Hell, I would pay about $50 for one, mine is so bad...

The OEM retainer ring is of VERY poor design. The plastic used is very fragile and cracks/breaks easily.

I agree. I've glued mine more than once. Still holding for the moment.
