Long story short Iam piecing together a stock intake for my recently acquired 2004 Zo6/Z16.
BOB WENDORFF@ FICHTNER CHEVROLET has informed me that the MAF that came on my car is from an LS1 based on part #25168491. What doesnt make any sense is that one it came on the car (although it was used), it fits the alleged "Z06" airbridge I bought used, and everything I read on this forum about it says LS1 MAF's are 3 wire and or the MAF change occured in 2000 and all maf's post 2000 are the same.
Why would my "ls6" have a "ls1" maf unless they were the same?
Can anyone post a link to a MAf identification thread so I can figure out what maf I have?
Also looking for a zo6 OEM airbox, lower radiator support (plastic shroud), and possibly an "LS6" maf.
I thought the 2002 -2004 LS6 MAFs didn't have the screen and the 2001-2004 LS1 MAFs did. Also the 2001 LS6 MAF may have had the screen. I'm not sure on that. Calibration may be slightly different depending if does or doesn't have the screen.
ajg1915 is correct in saying all 2001 and later MAFs are five wire. The earlier ones were three wire, and smaller diameter.
Some LS6 owners that put on an aftermarket cold air intake would get lean codes due to turbulent air passing through the MAF. Perhaps the screened MAF was added to correct this problem. The pupose of the screen is to straighten the airflow before it passes across the MAF sensor wires.
