Difference between LS1 & LS6 oil pump??
What is the difference between LS1 oil pump and the LS6 oil pump?? I understand that GM may have made some minor modifications with the LS6 but can't seem to confirm it!!

According to the GM parts list there's only one oil pump for all C5's (LS1's & LS6's), PN #12563964.........which means they are all the same.

They did change something on the 2001's because some of the pre-01's oil pumps where crapping out on some people therefore new motor is needed. I don't know what is different though :(

One of the mods on our 427 is a Modified LS6 oil pump. I wonder why Mike Norris would spend the extra $$$ (his $$$...not mine) when he could have modified the oil pump on our LS1, unless there was some difference.

The 01+ pump is not really redesigned, its manufactured differently to eliminate the failure problems of the earlier design.
I just put one in with my cam swap. Retail price is $90 at a gm dealer, Fitchner has them for about $60.
