Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
BatMobile: Tell us who you've been talking to at GM and then post the name and phone number on the forum. Then everyone on the forum can call on your behalf!!! 10,000 calls ought to open their eyes!!!! :mad :mad :mad
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
The fact is ALL major corporations behave the same way in situations like this. The Explorer/Firestone debacle is typical of this. They wait until they have a huge lawsuit on their hand before they act. And they are NEVER motivated out of anything other than short term (VERY short term) minimization of costs.
Do the right thing for the customer??? FORGET it.
So Neill will have to sue. The good news is Neill that you will have tort lawyers knocking your door down to get this business and they will happily do it on retainer because (1) the suit is very likely to be successful (juries always side with the underdog in these cases, and you are tiny compared to GM), (2) the punitive damage component of the suit is potentially enormous (millions), and (3) GM has deep pockets, so executing the judgement (getting paid) will be successful. Most likely, GM will offer to settle way before this, for a substantial sum.
The bad news: Neill will feel bad doing this, because he has a conscience, unlike GM. Believe me Neill, you're doing the right thing here. And it's you or GM at this point. Good luck.
Yeah...I will feel bad even if successful. I'm a passive person at the worst of times. Hate that it will come down to it. But, the beauty of the US legal system is that I can get some pitbull to make themselves a royal pain in the butt for GM. Sit back and watch the sparks fly.
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (chuckster)
Neill, Try Willie Gary in Stuart Florida. He is known as the Giant Killer.
I bet he'd froth at the mouth for this one. Big corporation taking advantage of little old joe citizen...
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
OK...so let's see...
Help me out here gang...
So far on my list, due to GM's little factory defect, I will have to incur the following...
Shipping fees...
Rental car fees...
Diminished value of the car due to significant frame repair...
Lack of faith in the car as being a 'sound' vehicle. Can't trust it to perform at 100% again...
Pain...anguish...frustration?
Punitive damages?
Keep em coming...
Honestly...it is coming down to the fact that I will probably insist for a buy back from GM of some sort. It really comes down to the fact that as much as I love this car, I no longer feel safe pushing it to it's design limits, for fear of another failure. If I can't use it to its design limits, one of the joys of owning the car, I don't want it.
There has to be a legal argument in there somewhere.
I'm open to some more suggestions...unless that is not 'recommended'.
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
you forgot therapy sessions to help you cope with this tragic event. :jester add in the stress of potential dates lost due to no vette and I'm sure a jury would be on your side (not that you need a vette to pick up chicks to begin with, I'm just saying). :D
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (nevadacoin)
If GM gave a rats behind, they would have a rep.s answering question on CF and on a regular bases. Would not cost much and would score on customer loyalty. When it comes to customer service, GM does not have a clue.
In this case, they should do what is reasonable and offer the repair at the nearest GM dealership. Any shipping from that point, they should cover. AND I'll just bet that a good customer service rep, could get that done AND make you feel good about it by treating you right.
Why is it GM constantly comes off as if they could care less?????? GM Where are you, TALK TO THE FORUM.... THE FORUM CAN HELP YOU .......brand layalty shoudl be earned...... :mad
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (YellaFella)
Hey Neill-- guess this means another rental at the Cruise-In...
You really need to slam these uncaring and irresponsible people with a hungry attourney. This is important not only for you and your situation, but I want to know if there is an inherent problem with MY car, and the hundreds of buddies here on the forum, who drive C5's as well!!!
Unless you take extreme action, not a single person in GM is going to look further into this than your specific case, and then only as far as getting it fixed cheap and shutting you up--
These useless Cavalier seller/fixers need to be shocked into action, and you have the switch in your hand---
Use it, bro :yesnod: :smash: :smash:
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
Does GM know that this is being discussed here on the forum? Seems like they would want the positive PR by doing you right. You should forward them a link to this, and the previous thread so they can see how visible this problem is in the Vette community. Good luck, man. We are all pulling for ya.
I think if he was to forward them the link, they would just ignore it. :mad I wish you the best, and know you will this lawsuit. Do it for us all Neil
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
GM's way of looking at things....
Bean counting, bean counting, uh, hm, did I mention bean counting
Oh, that's rightttt are flagship the corvette, how should we treat it? Hmmm, I got it, let's disrespect it at the Chicago Auto Show (and every other major auto show) by not even giving it a CHEAP stinking platform of any type, nah, lets just set it side by side with that cheap as* cavalier. Yeah, that's a good one duhhhhhh..... :bs :bs Oh you mean the 50TH ANNIVERSARY is coming, special wheels? Special engine option? Upgraded interior? Special options of ANY kind, no, no, like previous 'anniversary' joke editions before, let's give it some stinking badges and paint the wheels. GM YOU ARE A JOKE and a DISGRACE... Your marketing SUCKS A**. Will you EVER get a clue, I thought not?
And for the final disgrace.... Lets insult, ignore, and deny responsibility for a potentially life threating SEVERE defect. OVER SHIPPING COSTS??????? You make me, and dare I say, EVERY member of this forum want to :U :U :U
Get a TEAM of lawyers and hit em where it hurts.... Good luck.
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
Hey Bat,
I just got a call from the Executive HQ @ GM over the letter I sent to Mr. Jack Smith.............
Interesting conversation on my Brake failure issue.............:D
Do you want some background and POC's from there?
Re: ***UPDATE*** Let the wars begin... (BatMobile)
GM must select their Executives and decission makers from the College of Penny Wise and Pound Foolish. :cuss :mad
WAKE UP GM, There are a lot of other options for us Corvette owners out there. :smash: :smash: And, some of us may even be interested in buying a family car or Van or Truck, and guress what, THERE ARE A LOT OF OTHER OPTIONS OUT THERE FOR US. :yesnod: :yesnod:
Get your act in order and step up to the plate of responsibility, or the thousands of people on this Forum could cost you a lot more than the $2000 of shipping costs in question. :mad :mad

We even get better dealership support out of Ford down here for our delivery trucks...bought second hand out of the US, then imported. No questions asked, they fix it. Granted, this situation is a bit different, they can't fix it here...it HAS to go to the US. But still, the Ford dealership here is first class...the GM dealership down here doesn't stand a chance.
