Default Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool

Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool

Here is the Hawk LS Series Harmonic Balancer Installation Tool. It has been on market for over 10 years now and proven itself to be a must when installing a harmonic balancer. Universal installer tool kits do not work well with the GM LS Series motors. No longer do you have to chance stripped or damaged crank threads trying other installation methods.

There are two versions offered, the GM LS1, LS6, LS2 & LS3 or the GM LS7. The GM LS7 version is approximately 3 inches longer due to the deeper crank threads in the GM LS7. So the tool needs to be longer. The GM LS7 version can be used on other LS motors but there may be clearance issues with the added length of the tool during use.

I bought the Hawk install tool a couple of weeks ago and got to use it this past week end to install my balancer. It worked great, I'm so glad that I bought it. I've read threads on the web about guys really having problems with the balancer install but the Hawk tool makes it a very easy install. Thanks for the tool.

Nice install tool. Now if only we could talk you into selling a reasonably priced flywheel lock tool.....

Stupid question most likely, but does this ONLY install a factory dampner or could I use this to install an ATI dampner??

Add an outer collar to the tool and you can make it a crank gear installation tool (don't forget a cutout for a keyed crank. I landed up making one out of some roll bar tubing I had laying around, but fabricating stuff like that in the middle of a project eats a lot of time.

I pushed a small phillips screwdriver into the flywheel and clamped a pair of vise grips down next to it.

Another spam message without answering a simple tech question... what balancers have you used this on? I'd hate to buy it only to find out it doesn't work on some of the popular balancers.

Why wouldn't it work on all of them? They all have to fit the OD of the crankshaft.

You can assume it if you want but I'd rather ask for real world experience.

I wasn't assuming anything. I just wanted to know you're reasoning for thinking it wouldn't work on most, if not all, harmonic balancers.

Mine has worked on various balancers with ease. One of the coolest tools I have.

Just ordered mine too. I've done three of these jobs now on LS1's in C5's. Busted my knuckles each and every time. Not the next one. Bought a used factory crank holding tool off the auction website and now have this. I'm good to go on LS motors for a while!
