Default Yet Another Spring Bushing Thread, Yes.

I know people are probably getting tired of seeing these threads but I've searched high and low and haven't had much luck. Here's the deal. When I bought my '98 coupe, the PO told me the car was lowered on stock bolts, which is fine. I later noticed that the spring bushings in the rear had been cut, which is also fine (I love the look of a lowered Vette). I noticed something strange about the ride height. the fender gap ont he passenger rear is considerably less than on the driver side. Under closer examination I noticed that the passenger side bushing was indeed cut, but had also been squeeze out from its perch. I've read that you can't buy just the adjusters or bushings from GM without the whole spring. I'd love to upgrade my springs but that will be later on. I haven't been able to find many aftermarket options. I was informed that HardBarUSA sells them, but all I can find is a "spring end kit" (See link).
http://hardbarusa.com/hardbar/produc...products_id=48

EDIT: Checked out CorvetteCentral.com. Part #585054 (spring bushing)....Or Part #585087 (spring mount cushion)
Not sure which is which.

It seems odd that the OP would "cut the bushings" on the rear bolts, because to lower the rear, you unscrew the bolts, to lengthen them, and do the opposite in the front. And yes, you can buy stock, or aftermarket bolts, and nothing else, if you so desire.

Wow I just re-read my whole post and realized I didn't even get to the point. haha. I'd like to at least have some kind of bushing in there. And was wondering which one of the Part #'s I posted was the correct one. Does that make sense?

My guess would be the spring bushing. The spring mount pad sounds like the rubber piece that goes between the crossmember and the spring where the spring is actually mounted to the car.

Okay, so I checked out Ecklers and found this... Part #: 41509 Leaf Spring Cushion. Thats the part that is actually split and trashed. I found something else (Part #: 41576: Leaf Spring Cushion). Not sure which is which though... I know 41576 is Poly and the other is rubber. But they look nothing alike. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Anyone? Could someone at least give me a visual on how the spring assembly goes together? as far as which bushing goes where?

Well, I appreciate that very much. But regarding the two parts I found on Ecklers, whats the difference? They look totally different.

I'm just trying to get this figured out before I order the parts and rip the car apart.

Go to MYI's web site.
They are a vendor that has their ad/name to the left side of this page.
Schroll down & click on to their site.
Once there go to the supension C/5 section.
You will see their front & rear adjusters. The rear bolts have the bushings, washers & nuts. Every thing that you will need to get you where you want to be.
Good luck.

I went ahead and ordered the poly bushings from Ecklers (Part #41576). A set of 4 is the same price as ONE of the normal rubber bushings (Part #41509). Weird. The poly bushings are also shorter than the rubber ones. They're the same as the bushings that come with the lowering kit from MTI. At least I think so...
