Default High Oil Pressure?

I just noticed the oil pressure gauge pegged on my stock C5 and the digital read out at a steady 129 psi. I haven't troubleshot anything yet, any suggestions?

Very common with the C5. Sending unit needs to be replaced.

Can you guys elaborate more on this?

I have been noticing that my oil gage seems to fluctuate from 30-50psi during normal around town driving... and during acceleration it seems to steadily increase and have seen it go all the way to 70-75psi....

Any input for this, anyone?

The oil pressures you described for normal driving are acceptable; however, there is a difference between "fluctuating", and increase/decrease with RPM.

Bad Sensor there is a fix on the C5 Tech section in the "how too" thread. involve's relocating and replacing the sensor. if you relocate the sensor and it goes bad again it makes for a 5 minute job the next time you have to replace it.

Make sure you are running the correct weight engine oil.

Well yes, Im running Mobil 1 5W 30.... I bought the sensor today just have to install it.. but in case it is not the sensor what can it be? Again, during acceleration under load the psi will steadily increase....

And will or can this issue hurt the car?

My DIC and gauge we pegged when the OP sensor went out. I asked the same questions. everybody said:

No. That is normal. Your OP should increase under accel and then level back out when your engine does. If your sensor is out, how can you tell? 99 times out of 100 it is just your sensor. I drove mine for a few weeks before we replaced the sensor during a recent cam swap,,,,the new sensor worked or we would have shut the engine down on the first start up. 33 +/- is normal at idle/cruise,,higher with load and rpm under accel. we had to change the oil pump o ring during the cam swap and the lack of OP would have indicated a bad seat of that ring. that didn't happen and with the new sensor,,,33 showed up!

so did some more HP and TQ

Ain't it scary,,,you guys are teaching me stuff!
