Default lock and unlock button

My lock and unlock switch works to unlock but it will not lock the doors, is this a comon problem. I suspect the switch is gone bad on the lock side, am I wrong or is there a fix to it? Will I have to replace the whole switch panel or just the lock and unlock switch?

1997 C5

Thanks,

Tom

I don't know if anyone has ever gotten the switch apart. Its easy to get the door controls out but apart may be another matter. First, just in case, pull your codes please as it might show something important. The door control module has the relays and etc. inside which might be the source of the issue rather than the switch itself. The door control modules can be swapped briefly to test (I think).

Does the fob lock the door? If it does, it is most likely the switch, if it doesn't, it is most likely the relay in the door control module. The relay is a common source of trouble and the relay can be replaced. Search on the forum.

Default Had same problem got a drivers side switch panel on fleabay for $35

I'm good with electronics but the module is almost impossible to disassemble and try fixing. Dealer part is over $100. Found one on fleabay for $35. Was like new. Make sure you get the right one. Mine had memory which has 2 additional buttons on it. Don't get the wrong switch panel.

The link for the relay fix is outstanding, I will have to get on this on asap. I did not get a fob with the vett, it is a 1997 and the owner said that his ex-wife took it with her when she left. So have been looking for one and they sure are priced high.....have looked on ebay and on the net. If anyone has an old one laying around that works for 97-99 I would pay a fair price for it.

Thanks for all the help, I have just about gotten all the little bugs out of my new to me 97 C5.
