Hi

Are you saying that it will sound smoother? Wht does popping on decel mean?

Thanks

Hi

The funny thing is that l have not had my vette out since Nov and l forgot what it sounded like. If l start it l will drive it!

So l will wait for the snow to melt and then take it out for sure which will probably be in April hahaha

If you're running the stock Z06 exhaust, then it won't change much. But if you switch out to very unrestrictive system like B&B Bullets et. al. then you'll tend to get a lot of decelleration crackle and motorboat idle. A proper x-pipe will alleviate a lot of that.

These guys are right on track. The x-pipe will make a smoother exhaust note and reduce some of the deceleration popping on the more aggressive systems like the Bullet. The only other thing an x-pipe will provide is a slight increase in power however it is minimal, 2-3hp. We have seen this on a chassis dyno however it is not something you will notice seat of the pants. We have more information on how we manufacture our x-pipe at www.bbexhaust.com.

I disagree. I changed the sound of my Z06 significantly. It smoothed the sound out, especially at high RPM. It eliminated the exhaust "jingle" Z06's are known for (main reason for installing it). At 2500rpm the resonance is slightly louder.

I'm very happy with mine. At high RPM it almost sounds exotic.

I don't think you'll really have a motorboat sound at idle so it won't do much for you with TI's.

No doubt it will have some effect, but with a stock exhaust setup, Z06 or otherwise, the change is minimal as compared to a virtually wide open system like Bullets. On my B&B Bulleted '02 coupe, when I lifted off the go pedal while in gear, it used to sound like a hail of gunfire. Now it's more like someone with no rhythm on a bass drum.

To put on a X-pipe with a stock exhaust you have to cut the existing h-pipe. If you do it yourself its just the price of the x-pipe, to have it done your looking at a decent amount of money for a relatively minor change.

Agreed. It does change the sound, but to someone who doesn't drive the car everyday it would go unnoticed. Open exhaust would be much much louder. Also, I do not believe there is any performance gain. It does get rid of the "jingle" which is what I wanted.

The jingle might be in the cats, no?

I've installed X pipes on a 383 and my current 410 HP LS 1+ and, in both cases, the exhaust noise was reduced somewhat, the tone of the exhaust went up one octave and resonation decreased. I can't say that HP or performance was significantly inproved, but I liked it much better than the H pipe.

No, it's caused by the small hole in the factory H-pipe. When you install the X-pipe the cats stay in place. Only the H-pipe is swapped out.

The exhaust resonates in the H which sounds like a "jingle". I'm not sure if the LS1 does this but the LS6 definitely does. Lots of post in the Z06 section.
