Default Headers and cat choices

I'm currently running Borla Stingers with a borla X pipe on stock manifold and stock cats. How do I figure out what headers and high flow cats would fit that cat back set up?

Any of the popular header setups will fit your catback. There are many possible setups out there, call some vendors and talk to them. I run Melrose headers and random tech cats, not sure the brand of x-pipe I am running. Melrose is not that common on the forum but some other manufacturers are American Racing Headers, Kooks, Dynatech, Bassani and others. You will need the cats and x-pipe to go with the headers. There are some cheaper alternatives used also. Try doing a search on headers, you will get more info than you can handle. First thing is: what is your budget.?

Your cat back system will hook up to any of the headers out there--some adjustments or welding may be required--- My opinion is to leave the STOCK cats on---not really a huge improvement in HP by removeing them and the car is easier to re-sale with the stock cats

I went with the American Racing header and cat combo. The quality is fantastic and they bolted up without problem. No codes, and the sound and performace is very pleasing.

However, your Borla Stingers will get much louder now. If you like a loud sounding exhaust you will be VERY happy. Don't know if your car is an A4 or an M6, but on my A4 they do drone like crazy. I just bought a Z06 Titanium exhaust for long road trips though.

Our long tube headers and high flow cat pipes will work with you current set up. We also offer a set of smog legal shorty headers that are a direct bolt on replacement for the OE manifolds and will give you about 1/2 of the performance of a long tube. You can read about both of these set ups at www.bbexhaust.com or contact me directly if you wish.
