Default MS3 or F14

I have a 99 FRC with all bolt ons. And I have been contemplating for months or my cam choice, which is between the MS3 and F14. It's not a DD I only drive it when the weather is nice. I will be getting tune the day after install the install.

And another situation is I am going to be getting the LS7 clutch and 4.10's. Do you think I should get this before the cam? or afterwards?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

IIRC the Futral cam is considerably smaller than the MS3. It really depends how you want to use the car. If you spend time in traffic or want to take the car into the city, I'd go for the F14. If you don't mind putting up with some sam "stuff", the MS3 is a good cam.

FWIW: I ran a 230-236 112 +2 on XE-R lobes and it was a great cam in my 346. With heads and a 90/90 setup it made 460 and drove exceptionally well - even in bumper to bumper traffic with 3.42 and 3.90 gears.

Yeah I'm really just stuck between a mid sized cam and a pretty big cam. I know with the F14 I wont lose that much low end torque, but with the MS3 I will lose a little of that torque for more top end. I know that a good tune can make the MS3 driveable in traffic, i'm not worried about the driveability, I just don't know how much low end torque does the MS3 give up.

Take a look at LG's G5X3 cam. Less intake duration than the MS3. I believe it's a 234-242 and the MS3 is a 237-242.

IF you already plan on getting 4.10's you don't have to worry about loosing low end torque...and if you are on the fence about going mid sized or large sized cam i would go large because the worst thing is regretting you didn't go bigger....that's why i have a MS4..with 4.10's!

I have an 03 Z with the MS4 cam, Halltech intake, under-drive pulley, Borla catback, and American Racing headers. We dyno tuned it Sunday and it made 436hp/390trq. It's all in the tune with driveability. My idle is at 750rpm and it drives pretty close to stock until you nail it. I was nervous about the cam being too big, but I am glad I went big the first time.

I have a Ms4 and its great still makes more hp and torque then stock everywhere, my setup makes over 400ft/lb torque at the rear tires from 4200 to 6000, below that is still good and perfectly driveable but it really comes on at 3500, tuning is the key for drivability

I'd go with the Futral cam as they drive well and make great tq. I doubt you would give much hp on the top end as well.

My little F11 228/230 112 made 436rwhp and 415rwtq. On Tea Stg 2 5.3, kooks 1 3/4, GHL catback and a Halltech TRAP. A fast 90 was good for 45x rwhp on a friend's car with the same setup who dynoed within 5rwhp of mine on the same dyno same day

I like the G5X3 but the package is so expensive. Would it be cheaper to buy the cam itself then buy all the parts separate? Or does LG even let you buy the just the cam?
