Has anyone considered a class action suit against GM? There seems to be many owner's, including me (2000 Coupe) that has this EBCM problem. Anyone?

Default Active Handling Module Malfunction

Unless ours is just different externally? Not trying to start an argument, just want to get to the bottom of this as bad as everyone else.
I've also got a "V" module (model: 09356971) on my '99 FRC. I had my Active Handling go berzerk last time on the track, handfull of codes, cleared them with the Tech II and got sticky C1255 EBTCM Internal Malfunction. When I try to run the 'Diagnostic System Check' with the Tech II, I get nowhere as it tells me the BPMV relay is off. Today I pulled the EBCM, as the service manual says that other than a connection issue, it's the module. Now that it's off and I'm looking inside, I'm wondering if one of the two Bosch (0 332 019 152) relays is the BPMV relay. I'm tempted to replace these and see what happens. From what I'm reading here, I'm pretty much screwed otherwise...

I suppose since it's already bad, you got nothing to lose by trying. If it works and it solves the problem you can be a hero to all of us with the early ECBM.

The only one that wins in a class action suit is the law firm.
If you can convince nhtsa that this failure is a safety issue, you would have a much better chance.
Several years ago the 3000gt vr4 crowd complained enough to nhtsa to force mitubishi to replace part of the drivetrain on those cars. Even though many were many years old.

You'd lose...

I agree with the post above, complain to regulatory agencies if you want to take action. That's your only chance.

check out the web site. At the very least you can email them and ask how to.

What would be interesting is if we could get this organized and on the front page of every vette website.

Setup a template to file electronically or snail mail and make it easy for everyone to file a report.

The larger the voice the easier they will hear you.

There is no reason that 4 years of corvettes should die off because of a manufacture defect.

It doesn't hurt to try. I went to the nhtsa website, and they can't be e-mailed. It looks like they only take complaints over the phone or through snail mail. If we could come up with a template to make it easier for everyone we could try it.

An effective method would be to collect names and emails and then schedule X number per day to call.

Complaints that come in every day will get noticed.

I have decided to retrofit an 01-04 set up to my '98.

I'll start a new thread once i get the donor car home and start the process. I am truly stoked to feel like my abs and pcm problems are somewhat under control hopefully.

Here is a link to a thread I started over in the road race sction.

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/auto...post1578795664

ps I will gladly donate my old abs to anyone who wants to use it to test it and figure out how to reapir it if possible.

Any thoughts?

I bet the serious circuitry is on the other side of the board. What's in the photo is all common stuff. Old tech too.

In the page I listed earlier. On the left it says "email nhtsa". Click on that and a form comes up. Fill it out and they should answer you.

When I click on it, the only form that came up is "Tell a Friend". Which gives the friend a link to the NHTSA home page.

Never mind, there are 2 e-mail hot buttons on that page. I will be giving it a try later this afternoon. I recommend everybody else does too.

How is this any kind of issue anymore? All it does when it fails is make it a REGULAR CAR without ABS-like the everyday car I drive to work. You guys are attacking windmills.

Question. Two vettes for sale identical. One the abs works as it should, the other it doesn't. Which one will you or any other person buy everything else being equal?

I am curious too that since the bankruptcy relieves gm of past liabilities, why would they be entitled to any type of patent rights or intellectual property rights as well for that same time period?

Seems any company should be able to reverse engineer the module as I would think gm can't have it both ways.
