I trying to find out if the X pipe is worth the money or not. I possibly may install LG long tube headers later on, and from what I found its a waste of money to get an X pipe if you plan to buy long tube headers.
Does the X pipe make a difference at all in terms of sound? If so does someone have a video or sound clip of a C5 without an X Pipe.
X pipes have been dyno proven to give power in almost every case....headers or not..though placement is important.....sound usually improves and backfire on decel is usually lessoned or eliminated.....BTW....I just happened to have a used Magnaflow X pipe I may sell..
I can't speak to the header question but I have 2 1999's... one stock, one with a corsa crossover feeding a Z06 ti exhaust... night and day difference!
The x pipe by itself is almost a total waste of money, cause they aint cheap and the stock exhaust has to be cut to have them installed. Very small difference in sound.
Dyno proven results may add up to 3 or 4hp.
Just save the hundreds of dollars and invest in those long tube headers.
From what I read on other forums (not Corvette ones) they state that keeping an H pipe will make the exhaust sound deeper more muscle like, oppose to an X pipe which will make it sound more raspy is this true?
If by more muscle like you mean choppier then yes... you could say that. The x pipe reduces the "side to side" exhaust sound, giving it a smoother, more of a balanced note. By the way when I bought my car it had the corsa extreme exhaust with crossover pipe on it. For me, it was a little too loud for every day driving (vert), so I sold it and put on the Z06 ti exhaust, but kept the crossover pipe. I'm glad I did. I like the smoother sound.
