my '02 Z went from running great, to no power, flashing CEL, and just not sounding right in about 2 seconds flat yesterday. limped it to the shop, grabbed the scanner and started looking. found a p0300 code, a p1416 code, and the right bank steady missing on all 4 cylinders. my first thought was bad gas (just filled up that morning). got a fuel sample, and nothing, fuel looked great. everything on the scan tool looked great, except the short and long term fuel adaptives, they were sitting at 0.4% for bank one, and 21.9% for bank two thought maybe bank 2 cat con was stopped up. picked the car up, unhooked the exhaust at the headers, and test drove. AMAZING difference. it seams the bank two cat con is almost plugged. my ORX and HPTuners will be here Monday
just wanted to put a post out here for others that run into a similar situation.
my x-pipe showed up today
removed the factory mid pipe, put the x in it's place. did a quick tune (no reporting from downstream O2s). car is fixed. just for giggles i cut the cats out of the factory mid pipe and found the honeycomb was in chunks. guessing the front one broke and stopped up the rear cat.
i got the Borla to match my exhaust. eventually i am going to get long tubes, and probably go to BNB exhaust when i switch to long tubes. the shorty headers, Borla x and Borla stingers is LOUD at WOT. i will probably get some resonators to go in the x pipe soon.
