Default Brake Bleeding

Does anyone know off the top of their head what size clear plastic tubing will fit directly onto the bleeder valve on stock C5 calipers? I would rather have that on hand before I start the job.

sounds right...when I bought the speed bleeders I went to Home Depot and bought some tubing as you can buy what you want I think they had some precut even and it was cheaper that way. Looks like someone bought to much and brought it back

I did the exact same thinng with H.D. and speed bleeders. To the OP, if you don't have them, get them. Speed bleeders.

I just bled mine this past weekend and put in speed bleeders.
I used normal fish tank tubing. Put the nose of a set of needle nose pliers in them and stretch the line a bit and it slides right on.

I bought 25' of tubing for a few bucks and I have enough to do a brake flush for a few years to come.

Slightly OT, but how did those speed bleeders work for you? I bought a set that wouldn't stop weeping

I was assured by the guy at KNS Brakes that they are worthless (the speed bleeders). He promissed that the best way to bleed is the old fashioned way.

Hopefully, you have or are familiar with the Motive power bleeder?

They make bleeding your Corvette brakes a piece of cake.

???,speed bleeders are a one way check valve, lets air/fluid out but air cannot enter back the system in through the valve. Fastest way to bleed brakes without help, one man job. I'm pretty sure if you check the roadrace section you'll see that most racers use them becasue of the speed and its a one man job.

Sometimes Speed Bleeders can be reluctant to seat, then you get a leak (or even a spray which is particularly gross. Remember how damaging brake fluid is to paint/clearcoat on wheels, brake parts, etc.).
Check carefully for perfect seating before considering the job finished. You have to do a balancing act as far as tightness of the bleeder is concerned--too tight and you snap it off, too loose and you may leak. Best way I've found is to tighten fairly firmly, then back off and tighten again. Repeat a couple of times before going down that final time(but not too tight). That seems to "condition" the seating areas on the bleeder and caliper and may make leaking less likely.

I also didn't care for the hard red sealant factory applied on my the Speed Bleeders I have installed for myself and friends. It wasn't uniformly applied and 'tho I may not have done the right thing, I removed it all and replaced with some turns of Teflon tape.

^^^ That may have been what I experienced. It just kinda turned me off to the whole thing, being honest. But as noted, I'll give it another shot. I do have the motive bleeder and even with all the concerns expressed I found that it gave me a high, firm pedal with no issues.

I guess I just got lucky, and I'm the guy who usually breaks stuff installing it. Good luck to everyone, and be safe.
