Default EBCM Question?

Hello all, I have a quick question regarding the EBCM from my 02 Z06. Recently mine went bad and needs to be replaced. I was able to obtain another EBCM for very cheap from a local junkyard, but I'm not sure whether or not it's a working unit. I don't want to install this unit without knowing whether or not it works. Is it possible to simply plug the unit into the factory wiring harness prior to installing it onto the brake pump to test it out? Or, if not, is there any other way to test it out before installing it? This would definitely save me a lot of time. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you just hook the harness up it will run through the self test when power is first applied. It will kick codes if bad....

What codes is the bad one giving you? You can drive without it till the old one is repaired.
