Default X-pipe questions

Hi Guys,
I'm looking at doing an x-pipe on my 99 coupe and have some questions. I currently have the Z06 ti cat-back but can't find anyone local who can do the ti mod. I'd like a little bit more aggressive sound WITHOUT resonance issues and of course more power never hurts. I'm NOT going to change the cat-back, so please no suggestions on that subject - this is x-pipe only stuff.

That said, I see several different versions of x-pipes. The Borla one looks cheap and throw-together. The Magnaflow bolt-on unit looks nice, as does the weld-in one. The Corsa piece looks nicer than the Borla, but not as nice as the Magnaflow. For all of these when I say that it looks "nice" I mean in terms of true crossover flow, not that it looks pretty.

I'd like to know your experiences with any of these items.

I'm also considering building a different kind of x-pipe using d-ported joints to then blend into a single pice of oval 3.5" tubing (it's about 2.5" by 4" wide, so I wouldn't lose any ground clearance), then use d-ported joints again at the exit. That should make more power, not create any resonance issues and improve sound quality as well.

I'd leave it the way it is, with maybe the exception of enlarging the H pipe crossover.

I don't think that a X-Pipe alone is going to help much with the sound.

I did notice a difference in sound (stock exhaust) with the weld in Magnaflow X-pipe...just a tad deeper...very slight though..

X-pipe is suppose to get rid of the burble or motorboat sound that people seem not to like.

HP numbers will be basically the same.

Sound level and aggressiveness will be basically the same.

X pipe will mellow out the TI catback a bit, won`t be louder just different. Better IMO

I have a pair of 99's... one with stock exhaust and one with the Ti Z06 exhaust and a Corsa x pipe. Just had them both out of the garage running side by side on Thursday, and the one with the x pipe and Ti exhaust is a smoother, richer, less side to side "chugging" out of each muffler than the stock exhaust.

I saw that, but I can't drive to San Diego from the Bay Area and I don't have any other exhaust to use while I ship these down there and back. I need to find someone up here who can do it. Thanks though!

Bassani makes the best "looking" X pipe,IMO-it looks like they actually assembled it,instead of scabbing 2 pieces of exhaust tubing together, and then charging 10 times what it's actually worth.
And it's actually about $100 cheaper than the others.
An X pipe is on my "list of things to do"to the Vette, and I'm going with this one:

I'm sure my Corsa catback will be perfectly happy with the Bassani, because ,to me,the Corsa pipe looks cheesy, and costs way too much.

Let's face it,they all do the same thing, and it ain't rocket science-

When I had my X pipe installed the burble and motorboat sound was gone.
