M8x1.25x8.8 (the "8.8" is a Metric hardness grade)

ok well after $15 BUCKS,, I found the size.. M10X1.25,,, so if ya got arp studs and want to bolt down the windage tray remember that there will be two or three holes on the tray that will have to be drilled out and that you can get the nuts from home depot

these nuts simply hold down the windage tray and oil pump pick up tube.. grade 8 is not needed, ; it would just be over kill

So you pop for the ARP studs, and they cheap out on the nuts....because you are impatient?

these nuts dont hold down the main caps.. they go on top of the arp nuts and arp does not supply these nuts,, in fact the factory windage tray nuts are cheep stamped steel, these nuts add no clamping force to the mains,, i havent cheeped out on any thing ,, in fact the home depot nuts are a higher grade than what is necessary to secure the windage tray... heck the windage tray is just a thin peice of metal designed to scrape excess oil off of the crank and keep it from sloshing in the oil pan.. glorified baffel if you will,, and yes im very impatient..

It would have been helpful if I had known the ARP stud section that retains the windage tray was larger than stock. I looked up the stock retaining nuts that secure the tray. Also, it would not make sense for ARP to make a stud with Metric on one end and SAE on the other for an engine that uses all Metric fasteners.

Btw, Metric Grade 8.8 and SAE "Grade 8" are NOT the same. Apples and oranges. Metric "Grade" 8.8 is roughly equal to SAE Grade 5. Definitely not "overkill".

i should have mentioned that they are larger,,, not sure why i thought they were a standard size instead of metric. what would be the benefit of running a high grade nut on the windage tray?

I agree. There would be none since it's not a "stressed" type component but you DO want a nut that WON'T back off.

To the best of my knowledge, every single fastener/fitting/plug, etc on LS engines is/are Metric.
