has anyone repalced the oil sender using the method on you tube.
i am refering to removing and replacing the sender with out cutting the cowl or removing the manifold. i have heard about it but want to hear if any one actually did it ............thanks
I tried like hell and I've got the scars to prove it. Probably over 2 hours into the job I gave up after I broke the top off the sender. In the end I had to pull the manifold.
It took about 20 minutes to pull the manifold. It's so easy a caveman can do it.
No new gaskets, no electrical or plumbing problems when I put it back on.
Started right up and has run fine since.
Don't fear pulling the manifold.
Oh, it was 23 degrees when I did it standing on snow under the shade tree. The leaves were gone and I was racing the sundown.

Thanks guys it did seem too good to be true. I have never really heard of anyone doing it, im sure if it were easy no one would remove the manifold. Sometimes you do more work trying to avoid it....lol thanks
there are many in this section that have done it both ways...
the keys to not having to re-do it are
1. meticulously clean the terminals to ensure they are oil free
2. torque to 15 ft pounds.... I usually do so in 3 stages... 8, 12 then 15.
35K miles on my aluminum mexican made replacement sensor.
