Default Check engine light W/ P0803h

P0803 h

1-4 up shift solenoid control circuit (m/t)

The code keeps re-occurring and setting off the check engine light. I have a skip shift eliminator on the car. The 1-4 shift light in the dash still functions, but it doesn't force me to skip to 4th gear.

I was thinking maybe the skip shift eliminator went bad, but it doesn't make me go to 4th when the light comes on. Maybe the skip shift plug has come loose? I haven't crawled under the car yet to check the condition of the skip shift eliminator. Any other ideas?

Just haven't had time to get it up on jack stands. Mon I'm off and doing an oil change, I'll have it up on jack stands for that and take a look...

Think I'm on the right track with the skip shift eliminator?

I had the same problem, the skip shift bypass corroded and failed, you can get a new one, or just solder in a new resistor.

Happened to mine, a quick run to Radio Shack got a new resistor and all is well. Got a larger wattage than the original.

Had same problem. My skip shift eliminator failed within 6 months and less than 2,000 miles driven. Poped in a new one (from a different manufaacturer) and all was fine.
I think the failed one came from Ecklers --- I find their stuff has gotten chincy over the years.

Thanks, it sounds like I'm on the right track. I'll be under it tomorrow and check back.
