I noticed this a few months ago and attributed it to my not knowing the car when it was new but the same thing happened today. I was on the highway in my C5 for the first time in months and shifted into 5th. I heard this random but very consistent tapping sound every couple of seconds. It is not a regular tap; it has no particular rythm or pattern. Sort of like tap..taptap....tap..tap...taptap...tap.. tap..taptap......tap....tap. As long as I'm in 5th or 6th, it's there. If I downshift into 4th, it's totally and instantly gone. Back to 5th or 6th and it's back. Tried it several times and it's always there.
What do you think? Loose shift linkage at the OD positions or what?
C-5 Tech? Anybody have a clue or just wanna' flame me for the he11 of it? :jester
It's a rapping, tapping tell-tale heart kinda' sound. Sorta' like a small ball peen on a cast housing. Rather faint but the wife noticed it so not too faint.
