I think you'll have to judge for yourself whether there's enough room to work the balancer removal tool w/ the rack, radiator, etc. in place.

It's a tight space to work in, but might be possible as the balancer-remover takes up less fore-aft room than the cam does during removal & installation.

Just put the car up and try to fit your balancer removal tool into place on the front of the balancer.

-The rack will have to be out of the way to get the crank pulley/bolt off.
-I didnt remove the sway bar during my cam swap.
-You might be able to do it all with the radiator in, but it will make things harder than they have to be. Pulling the radiator doesnt take long and will make your life much easier.

Put a new after market balancer on and pin it while your in there!!! Sure as Hell it will wobble if you don't. Use an ARP bolt also. If your in socal I'll loan you the flywheel holding fixture. You'll need a torque wrench capable of 240+ lbs. Good luck! Rod.

GRRR ! I was replacing this seal because of oil leak. I have everything apart including the timing cover off. Its NOT the timing seal. I can see a break in a different seal.
QUESTION: Can you see the front of the oil pan seal at this point ? I can see a seal and it has a break in it, its right by the bottem two bolts for removing the timing cover. I have a 99 m6.

Yes, you should be able to see the front of the oil pan seal with the front cover removed. as the bottom of the front cover sits of the front lip of the oil pan.

Ok thanks. Removing the oil pan doesnt include any of the parts I removed for the front seal right ?
Also, I already had a after market Balancer with a notch in it for the pin (previous owner) but there isnt a notch on the crank ? I dont have any experience with this but it doesnt seem right ?

No, the oil pan is seperate from the front cover.

All LS motors balancers are press fitted on, (i.e. no keyway). I believe you could buy the ATI crank pinning kit to work with your balancer.

The ATI kit goes on the side and emultes a key way. Most other Crank Pinning Kits are done from the front.

Thanks, I can stop thinking about the crank. I have to get it back together and wont be able to do the oil pan seal till next week. I was thinking about using some RTV to repair the break in the seal till then ?

Knock out the old seal, clean up the cover with a scotch bright pad, re-install with a new seal.
