Default Electronic Throttle Restriction

I am seeing this word being thrown around a bit. Tuning devices are saying they can remove this for better throttle response.

I also remember a thread about a built-in throttle delay in the Corvettes.

Can somebody confirm/deny this feature?

Just found something called "Sprint Booster" for the C6. Maybe that answers all of my questions. Could be the C6 offers tuner access to the delay setting.

Thanks

the computer has torque management, that might be what the ads are referring to, but changing the setting isnt going to boost your horsepower

True, BUT it will let you use what you have. They do this to help limit the warranty claims...

There are a number of people making these types of devices for various manufacturer's engine control systems. All they do is change the feedback to the ECM so it sees a more rapid change in the gas pedal position so it responds by opening the throttle quicker. Supposedly makes the car feel peppier in part throttle situations. Can get the same affect for free by depressing the throttle more yourself.

I remember seeing ads for these devices in GM High-Tech mag, so I called about it. At the time they only made it for C6's, for some reason they couldn't make it for the C5 yet. It cost several hundred dollars and the main thing it did was change the throttle response, it didn't provide any increase in power. I guess many people must have realized what a waste it was because I haven't seen the ads in a long time now.

The delay can be taken out with tuning---a full tuner and not a handheld--removing the TQ mangement is one thing and helps-- but there is a delay in the "Power Enrichmnet table " this is more important to remove--I've seen some cars with a 5 second delay !!! Also the "pedal TQ reduction table" can be adjusted on a fly by wire car too--The aftermarket parts you see that plug into the throttle body are a way to set this table without a tune---But a full tune will address it as well plus give you the benefit of the balance of the tuning--

I think these were more for MoPars-there were/are not many tuning options for MoPars and the throttle lag when you stomp on it is/was supposed to be bad. This was supposed to fix that problem without retuning the ECM.
