Default starter leaking oil

Massive oil leak 02' c5. got it up on jack stands, looks like the oil is dripping off of the bottom bolt that connects the starter to the engine block. When the vette just sits there the oil doesnt leak but when you turn it on oil will drip like you just cut your finger off. i wiped down the bottom of the motor and bell housing but i still cant see where it is coming from,,,,, can a bad oil pressure sending unit cause this much oil to DRIP out (oil pressure sending unit hasnt worked for a while now)? already tightend the valve covers

While it is tough to access the oil pressure switch for REMOVAL without taking off the intake manifold, you can look into that area with a flashlight and maybe a small mechanic's mirror and see if the switch/sensor is the source of your leak. Will take some contorting on your part but you'll see what you need to see.

do you mean the oil pressure sending unit because the oil pressure sensor is above the oil fillter correct?

No,the oil pressure sensor(sending unit) is mounted at the top rear of the block, behind the back of the intake manifold.

Its your oil pressure sending unit, oil had leaked into the electrical part of the sending unit, that's why it wasn't working, but now its leaking externally. At about 60 psi a lot of oil will flow, there is a post on this about removing intake, also about relocating sending unit. Good Luck.

I've never tried it, but I saw this video of a guy replacing the oil pressure sender without removing the intake or cutting anything...

is there anything in between where the starter is mounted and the engine block? i was under the car looking for the leak and noticed the oil might be comming from something between where the starter is mounted and the engine block?
