Default header install-o2 extensions & flange prep

I feel stupid asking but I have searched and can not come up with an answer. I bought used headers and need to buy 02 extensions. I am planning on buying from racetronics as they are Canadian and I will be able to save money on duty and brokerage if I don't get them shipped across the border.
racetronics offers a flat and a square o2 extension. which do I need? sorry for the request to have my hand held through this process but I want to have the right part here when I install.

also, the headers I bought appear to have something on the header flange and I believe I need to clean it off. do I scrape it off or sand it off? again, may be a dumb question but the last thing I need is an exhaust leak.

Do you need "adpaters" or "extensions" ? Typically, the rear O2's are moved to the front positions, and require adapters, because the front O2 harness plugs are different....than the rear O2 harness plugs.

lucky, I should just pm you with my questions...you always answer first

maybe the reason I don't know the answer to my question is because I don't know the answer to your question. I am adding headers to my stock car. maybe you can tell me what I need. I really thought getting these was going to be a lot easier than it has proven:o

Ok. Some people do run four O2 sensors. In this case, depending on the header design, the front O2's may be positioned differently, and need an "extension".

If you are going to use the rear O2's in the front positions (what most do), then you will need an "adapter", to adapt the rear O2 sensor plug, to the front O2 harness. In this case, you would plug the rear bungs(in the headers) , and have your shop tune out the rear O2 sensors. If you go this route, you will need two of these adapters.

I think I need the adapters as I am only going to run 2 o2 sensors. the headers only have 2 bungs on them-they are dynatech supermax headers.
thanks for the info and link Lucky!
