Help, please, my climate control temp is going dim!
What could be causing my exterior/interior temperature digital display to become dim? The one above is fine (for the radio/CD) but the climate control display dims out so faint I can't see it, then brightens up, then dims out again. Could it be as simple as needing a new battery? Any knowledge on this would be appreciated! Thanks all! :)

I had the same problem with my '97.
You could go to your dealer and pay $900 :eek: for a new GM part (plus install).
Or you could do what I did and buy a new(er) climate control unit on eBay for $45 and swap the units. It's really easy to do and it works beautifully now. :cool:

A replacement head unit for my 99 was something like $300, but I was under warr. If you have to buy an new one, try http://www.gmpartsdirect.com They are cheaper than a dealer.

Happened to mine too. Bought a used one from the parts forum. Easy swap. What year is your car? Mine is a a '99 built April 15, 1999, so my display lasted less than 3 years, all other displays are holding up fine. My new one is from a 2001, seems to have a little better software (AC doesn't come on as much when I run it manual) but I seem to have to put the temp higher to get the same temp inside. Get no codes from the newer unit. Good luck,
