Default Fuel Filter

Where is the fuel filter on a 2000 corvette? Does anyone have a procedure for changing it?

auto or manual.
on a manual all you have to do is crawl under the car in front of the left rear tire and look up. one bolt holding it on, pinch connectors in the rear. you need a disconnect tool for the front. lots of gas comes out so be careful. push very hard on the front hardline. i didnt get mine on the first time and sprayed fuel everywhere. push until you hear a click. Took me about 15 minutes to change and then another 5 to readjust. supposedly on the autos you need to move an exhaust pipe to gain access.

Gentlemen, I am told that there is only an in tank fuel filter on the 03 C5Z?! Anyone tracking on this? This was told to me by the dealer, I have yet to get under there and look specifically for the fuel filter, I will be changing it when I get back from deployment. I know dealers should be left in the dark but I was in there getting warranty replacement done...now that the warranty is up I will finally get to do all the work and know for sure what has been done. Thanks Gentlemen

Thanks, there was a photo that didn't show up was that important to see? The network that I am using does not allow the viewing of photo hosting sites.

I guess the info that I was given at the dealer was true about the intank filter. It is replaceable though correct? Just going to be a mess changing it.

Service VME - New FFS Fuel System #PI00918 - (Feb 27, 2003)
Service VME - New FFS fuel system

.

When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

SERVICE VME
This is a service VME concerning 2003 model year Corvettes and the new FFS fuel system. Starting on November 25, 2002 with vehicle identification number 35111542, the Corvette began using a new fuel system that consists of new tank and fuel line assemblies. This new fuel system will be identified on the service parts identification label during the 2003 model year with the RPO FFS. There are a number of differences between the original design and this system. Technicians should refer to the 2003 model year service information before performing diagnostics or repairs. Care must be taken when ordering service parts to ensure that they are ordered for the correct system.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
