Default good deal on headers or no?

would 1,400 for a set of Kooks headers, plus cats, brand new, be a good deal?

Yes. Not very good but its good. GL and i never installed them but heard and seen numerous times they are biatch to install. Even more dificult if they are 1 7/8".

Iam mechanic and if i have to buy em i will take this as challenge and dive into it. Apart from install they are great headers to have.

Only if they've REALLY gone up
I paid around $800 (no cats) several years ago. Sorry; don't remember who I bought them from.

I just assisted in KOOKS LT install and it was the worst install of the 10 I have done.

I wish you the best.

Oh did not know you looking for 1400? thought you buying for 1400. Anyway in this case spend little more and buy AR 1 7/8", catted 3"x3"....i have installed AR headers and one of the best and easiest one, outstanding quality and easy to install headers. quality wise they are equal to or less than AR headers but installation make a big difference.

I was saying I can get a set, brand new for 1400, and was asking if it was a good deal. if not, was wondering if anybody knew where I could get them cheaper.

1400 is a decent price for new kooks. They are a little hard to install but worth it,I just did 1 7/8" by myself, had to have the wife come out and help lower the drivers side in,wasn't that bad to do,some have a harder time, you do have to undo the motor mounts 1 side at a time and lift the engine up on that side.but its worth the pain.

Check the ad by Byun speed. Looks like around $800 or less for the headers. You can purchase high flow cats anywhere
They are little tough, but not TOO bad to install.
Easier than a lot of mods on the C5 (like pulling the steering rack)

Why don't you check out XS-power headers...

There will be a special going on soon (I'm waiting for a set myself ) less than $900 and is US made, 321 steel with 3" piping all the way back!

I would not pay above $1k for headers IMO if there are others of comparable (and sometimes superior) quality ....

thanks for all the input guys. I appreciate it. I'm still probably a couple months out from buying, but I like to do my research well in advance.

I noticed XS Power is located in NC on Beaver Dam road, maybe you could stop by and give us some feedback?

I run the XSPowers on my bolt-on 99 6 speed. They look and perform AWESOME. Even the mustang guys at the dyno day were in awe when they say them. For $1500 you could get two sets just for the hell of it

I wonder if XSPower would arrange a set for you Steve. Someone with your experience in doing header installs, could certainly give honest, professional feedback.
