Lost clamp on inner CV axle, now leaking grease
So I've been noticing some dark spots on the rear fascia the past few days. Well, when I got under the car to realign my exhaust tips, I found some dark green/black oily, liquid. I started poking around some more, and the inner CV joint boot popped off the axle at the top. I got it reseated, but I noticed the clamp that should be there is gone. This is the larger diameter boot closest to the differential.
So, can I just put some axle grease in there and hope that it didn't get too dry and ruin any of the hardparts? Also, is there a way to reclamp it without pulling the axle out? And where can I find a good replacement clamp?
Thanks
PS - I've done a stall converter and some other jobs, and I think I've had that axle out before, so I may just pull it out and inspect it anyways.

here's a tip, you can buy a grease gun tube of "CAT desert gold" high moly, high temp grease at your local Cat dealer for about $8. I've found it to be excellent CV grease..
