I took my 98 conv. out of winter storage and the battery was slightly discharged so I charged it up and used it for a day with no problems. The next day the battery was completely discharged so I charged it up again and noticed that the DIC and instrument panel dimmer switch are staying illuminated when the car is shut off and parked (but not at full brightness-they get brighter when I switch the headlights on).I left the fully charged battery disconnected overnite as a couple of people recommended and this seemed to work after a couple of trys and it was good for a day but now the problem is back again.I started pulling fuses and found that fuse 25 body control module-ignition1,instrument panel control will put those lights out.Does this need to go to the Chev. dealer to have the BCM reprogrammed?Replaced?Could it be a bad dimmer switch? Thanks alot for any suggestions.

How did you evaluate the current drain? Using a meter, and allowing the BCM to enter sleep mode?

I didn't use a meter but I am thinking that fuse 25 is my problem circuit since pulling that fuse puts out the DIC and dimmer lights that are staying on.

That fuse supplies battery voltage to the IPC and BCM. It does not sound like you let the BCM enter sleep mode, and not using a meter to monitor the current drain, it's pretty much guessing. If you want to isolate the dimmer, pull minifuse #6. Either way, you have to allow time for the BCM to sleep, and monitor the meter.

The voltage at the battery right now is 12.6.I did pull minifuse#6 and the DIC and dimmer lights still stay on so I guess the dimmer is not the problem.I tried to measure the current drain but it looks like the fuses in my meter are blown for the amps/milliamps.I am giving all modules more than enough time to enter sleep mode yet those lights won't go off. Thanks for your help.
