I recently installed a set of gently used Z06 springs and Sway Bars on my 97 Coupe Mn6. I have not replaced the shocks yet at 40,000 mi, though I plan to within the next few weeks. I havent noticed anything other than much improved handling and ride (a little bit of a surprise ont he ride) over the few weeks since the install. A bought of cold weather blew into Texas this week. I drove my car today and noticed that the rear of the car was making a really loud crunching noise over speed bumps etc... I would like to think that the lowerd ride height has just gotten the old shocks confused and that with the cold weather it just wanted to tell me about its problems by making a really nasty noise. If that is the case, changing the shocks in a few weeks will completley close out the problem. I wanted to see if there were any other theories that I would be able to check while under there. FYI, I replaced all the bushings on the sways with PFADT poly bushings and properly lubed them. I also used a little of the bushing lube on the rubber bushings for the springs.

I would check the end links, I had a bad end link making a "popping" noise on mine.
HTH
I cant figure out how the endlink could "pop" (which probably means that is my problem). Can you explain what part of the endlink was binding or poping?
I purchased both my rear endlinks used, and my back left (drivers) one seemed to be the culprit, I pulled it off and replaced it and no more "popping , clunking" noise over speed bumps etc... When it was off I messed around with it, and it just felt loose, when rotating it around... I dunno - but once replaced it was quiet again, I suppose it could have been a bad install the first go round? but I'm leaning towards a worn out endlink, if thats possible?

Once you grease/lube those bushings for the first time, it's game over... at least it was for me!
I had close to 100k miles on my '98 when I did a complete c5z suspension swap over... as soon as I was done, my car sounded like I was squeezing a duck to death over every speed bump and driveway.
For me, it was coming from my leaf mounts and sway bars. I had to pull it all off, clean it up, and apply some silicone grease (superlube) to all the rubber mounting points. It drives like a caddy now
